An exciting cage design for the Ferretrail 4 Storey cage!

This is a cage layout I made for my rats after one clean out a while ago, I thought it was pretty good as I tried to put in as many toys as possible to make it really exciting for them. I have included this on my site so you can get ideas from it.

1. An old plastic gift box, the type soap and bath stuff comes in. It makes a good bed for rats and Spring like to sit in it to eat, because she thinks the others cant see her!

2. My home made hammock, made from a trouser leg. They love to sit on this and sleep in it. It has a double purpose of being a bed and another level/platform.

3. Hanging food bowls the sort you buy for caged birds. I use these to put treats in and they make the rats work for their rewards as I put them high up in the cage.

4. A purpose bought hanging tube. This works as a gang way for my rats to get to the platform with out any ladder to it. Its very useful as Darla is getting on now and it means she doesn't have to jump up to the platform.

5. Hidden in this corner is a tube, always a favorite with rats.

6. My wooden bendy toy. Its very hard to describe, it like little wooden logs lined up with wire in the middle so that you can bend them into tunnels and steps etc. I used this as a step to get on to the near by platform.

7. An old cereal box. Perfect as a bed and as something for the rats to chew on.

8. Darla's igloo house. This is Darla favorite house so I always put it in for her! I often have it facing away from the bars like this so she can have some privacy as she likes to sleep allot these days.

9. A parrot bell (honest it is there!) Its a large bell with wooden chewy bits on the chain... I don't really know what they think of it, they left it alone for a long time when I first got it and Esmay is scared of its ring, but eventually it got chewed.
